Wellbeing support as part of your GP visit
Did you know that Ora Toa offers access to a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) as part of your GP visit?
Health Improvement Practitioners are registered health professionals who provide practical, short-term support for a wide range of issues that can impact our wellbeing. This might include stress, anxiety, sleep difficulties, pain management, relationship challenges, addictions, bullying, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands.
The unique part of the service is that support can often be accessed on the same day, in the same place, while attending a GP appointment. Rather than waiting for a referral to another service, whānau can be connected directly with a HIP for immediate support and guidance.
HIP appointments are focused, practical, and usually around 30 minutes long. Together, the HIP and patient develop a plan with achievable steps to help improve wellbeing, build resilience, and support positive change. Whether someone is working towards wellness or learning ways to live well alongside an ongoing challenge, the goal is to leave with tools and strategies that can be put into action straight away.
This service is another way Ora Toa is helping make mental health and wellbeing support more accessible for our whānau when they need it most. 💙
