From Global Voyages to Local Wellbeing: Kayaks Gifted to Ora Toa Health

Ora Toa Health is excited to welcome a generous donation of kayaks that will soon become a valuable add-on to our existing Ora Toa services, creating new opportunities for movement, connection to our moana and holistic wellbeing for our whānau.

The kayaks were gifted from the expedition fleet of 'The World', the only private residential mega-yacht in the world, home to 165 residences and continuously sailing the globe.

After purchasing a new fleet while in Aotearoa, the team aboard The World looked for a meaningful way to pass on their previous kayaks, still in excellent condition after years of expedition use.

Wanting them to continue serving a purpose, they sought out a community organization where the waka could support health and connection and through a long-standing relationships, the kayaks found their way to Ora Toa.

Originally purchased in the United States, the kayaks have travelled the world, supporting expedition kayaking from the ship and now they begin a new chapter here in Porirua with Ora Toa, supporting community hauora.

Once integrated, the kayaks will compliment Ora Toa’s current services, opening doors for outdoor activity, reconnection with the moana and taiao, and whānau-based experiences that strengthen both physical and mental wellbeing.
