Dr Reuben Katene

Dr. Reuben Katene graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2022 and currently practises as a general dentist in South Auckland. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care with a focus on prevention, restorative dentistry, and long-term oral health.

A proud grandson of Kahuwaero and Bill Katene, Dr. Katene is passionate about improving oral health equity for Māori and advancing culturally responsive models of care that strengthen the health and wellbeing of whānau and communities.

Inspired by the lifelong contribution his grandparents have made to Ngāti Toa, he hopes to continue their legacy by serving his iwi through healthcare, leadership, and advocacy. Dr. Katene is also passionate about inspiring Ngāti Toa rangatahi to pursue careers in health, believing that growing the Māori health workforce is key to achieving equitable health outcomes and empowering our people to care for our own communities.

Francis Freemantle

Francis Freemantle is an experienced company director, CFO and consultant, with 30+ years of experience helping New Zealand and multi-national businesses and Not for Profits achieve their vision through governance, commercial, financial, operations and people leadership, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, tax, risk and audit management.

With deep industry knowledge across professional services, commodity trading, farming and hospitality, Francis has specialist skills in foreign exchange, treasury management, M&A, investment evaluation, systems design and commercial property management. He also has significant experience with iwi board commercial advisory and directorships, including social housing, primary health, investment banking and property development.

A chartered accountant and chartered company secretary, Francis holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Information Systems and Accounting and a post graduate Diploma in Corporate Management. Outside of business, he has contributed to sports, education and arts through coaching, mentoring and governance roles.
