Hīkoi Māwhero brings our community together to remember, honour and show aroha for those affected by breast cancer.
This is a day for those who have experienced breast cancer, those who are survivors, whānau who have lost loved ones, and everyone who wants to stand alongside them.
Together, we’ll come together for a morning of connection, kōrero, remembrance, celebration and hope.
First Lap of Honour
The hīkoi will begin with a special First Lap of Honour, led by those who have experienced breast cancer, breast cancer survivors, and whānau who have lost a loved one.
This first lap will be a time for reflection, remembrance and solidarity.
If you have lost a loved one to breast cancer, you are welcome to bring a photograph and carry it during the first lap as a special way to honour and remember them.
If you or someone in your team would like to take part in the First Lap of Honour, please let us know when registering.
What your registration includes
All registered paid participants will receive a Hīkoi Māwhero wristband, which includes:
A hot coffee or hot drink during the event
A BBQ hot dog
Participation in the day's activities and entertainment
Supporting whānau through oncology massage
As part of Hīkoi Māwhero, we are raising funds to provide oncology massage therapy for people currently on their cancer journey.
The massages will be provided by local oncology massage therapists, offering comfort, relaxation and support to those going through treatment and recovery.
A $10 contribution/koha per person is suggested to help support this kaupapa.
Koha can be made online or on the day.
