Ora Toa, part of Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, delivers kaupapa Māori health services that support whānau wellbeing and prosperity. Our dental service provides accessible, high-quality oral healthcare and works alongside other Ora Toa health services to support the people and communities we serve.

Ko te tīmā | About the team

You’ll join a friendly and collaborative team of five dentists and three Dental Assistants who are committed to exceptional care and positive patient experiences. The team provides low-cost treatment to a diverse patient population and benefits from strong connections with other Ora Toa health services.

Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role

As our Dentist, you’ll deliver comprehensive, patient-centred oral healthcare, diagnosing and treating dental conditions, restoring oral function, and providing preventive care and education that supports long-term oral health.

·         Provide a broad range of high-quality general dental treatments within your scope of practice

·         Develop appropriate treatment plans and maintain accurate clinical records

·         Educate patients and whānau about preventive care and long-term oral health

·         Work collaboratively with Dental Assistants, clinical colleagues, and other health services

·         Use fully equipped surgeries with orthopantomogram, laser, and surgical motor technology

We are open to discussing your availability for part-time hours and across our sites in Porirua, Newtown, and our mobile dental unit.

You’ll be a caring, capable Dentist who builds trust with patients and enjoys working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. You’ll bring sound clinical judgement, a commitment to equitable oral health outcomes, and genuine enthusiasm for serving our communities.

·         Registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate

·         Strong clinical, communication, and patient relationship skills

·         A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice

·         Confidence using digital systems; experience with EXACT dental software or similar is desirable

·         A positive, adaptable, and team-focused approach.
