Ora Toa Health Services is looking for an experienced and values-driven Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Takapūwāhia Medical Centre.

 This is more than a practice management role. It is an opportunity to lead a passionate team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of whānau, hapori, and the communities we serve.

 Ora Toa is part of Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, the mandated iwi authority for Ngāti Toa Rangatira. Our health services are grounded in kaupapa Māori, whānau-centred care, and a strong commitment to equity, access, and better outcomes for Māori and Pacific communities across the Wellington region.

 We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a kaupapa that matters.

About the role

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for the effective leadership, coordination, and operational performance of Takapūwāhia Medical Centre.

You will work closely with clinical, nursing, administration, and senior leadership teams to ensure the practice runs efficiently, safely, and in a way that supports high-quality patient care.

You will help strengthen systems, improve patient access, support staff capability, manage practice performance, and contribute to new ways of working that better meet the needs of our community.

This role will suit someone who enjoys leading people, solving operational challenges, building strong relationships, and creating an environment where staff feel supported to do their best mahi.

About you
You will bring strong experience in primary care or health service management, along with the ability to lead a busy team with clarity, confidence, and care.

 You will be someone who is calm under pressure, practical in your approach, and motivated by making a difference for the people and communities we serve.

 Ideally, you will bring:

  • Experience in general practice, primary care, or health service operations

  • Strong people leadership and team development skills

  • Experience managing practice workflows, budgets, patient systems, and compliance requirements

  • Confidence using Medtech Evolution or similar patient management systems

  • Sound understanding of patient enrolment, claims, debt management, and practice performance

  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and communication skills

  • Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to lead through change

  • A commitment to kaupapa Māori, equity, and whānau-centered care

About the mahi
The practice manager is responsible for the effective operation of the medical centre, leading a practice team who are highly committed to delivering quality care for the communities we serve. With your team you will build on existing strategies, develop and implement improved efficiencies and introduce new ideas to support the aspirations of Ngāti Toa to serve our people, and communities across the Wellington region.
