Youth Worker - Engagement

Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role

As a Youth Worker – Engagement, you'll play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where rangatahi feel comfortable seeking support.

You'll be the friendly face that greets young people when they arrive, build trusted relationships, provide one-to-one support, develop and facilitates programmes, and work alongside our clinical and hauora service teams to ensure rangatahi receive the right support at the right time.

 This is a varied role which includes;

·         Supporting a rangatahi through their first appointment

  • Facilitating a youth wellbeing programme or workshop

  • Coordinating health promotion activities in the community

  • Building relationships with schools, whānau and community organisations

  • Helping young people identify goals and supporting them to achieve

  • Contributing to youth-led initiatives that shape the future of The 502.

Your experience and professional expertise in Youth Work will demonstrate what we are looking for;

  • A genuine passion for working with rangatahi and their development.

  • The ability to build and maintain trusting and authentic relationships.

  • An understanding and values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice.

  • Culturally responsive and enjoys working alongside Māori and Pacific communities.

  • Proactive, organised and solutions focused.

  • Enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Brings energy, creativity and positivity to everything you do.
