Ko te tūranga mahi | About the role

As a Counsellor (Piki Rangatahi Kaiwhakaruruhau), you will deliver high-quality, confidential therapeutic support to rangatahi aged 18–25, helping them navigate mental health, social and emotional challenges.

In this role you will:

  • deliver clinical assessments and counselling, including individual, group and whānau-based support.

  • Develop and implement tailored care and treatment plans

  • Provide crisis intervention, including risk assessment and immediate support

  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with rangatahi and whānau

  • Collaborate with schools, health providers and community services

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you:

You’re a compassionate and skilled counsellor who is committed to making a difference for rangatahi and their whānau. You bring strong clinical capability alongside a culturally responsive approach to care.

You will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work or similar

  • Registration (or eligibility) with NZAC, DAPAANZ, SWRB or equivalent

  • Experience delivering counselling/therapeutic services, ideally in youth or community settings

  • Strong assessment, case management and crisis intervention skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building capability

  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori approaches to wellbeing
